I just read a very striking sentence...
She went to bed and slept on her back so as not to mess up her new face.
I wonder why one adds this as. Would it be right when saying "so not..".
Why do you have to add the as? |

sina - as not to is formal and not used often in informal conversation with your friends. you can also say the following...
She went to bed and slept on her back so that she did not mess up her new face.
She slept on her back so she didn't mess up her new face.
