Hi,
Please help explain which sentence is the correct one.
The incidence of car accidents in county A is nearly three times the incidence of car accidents in county B.
The incidence of car accidents in county A is nearly three times higher than the incidence of car accidents in county B.
The incidence of car accidents in county A is nearly three times as much as the incidence of car accidents in county B.
The incidence of car accidents in county A is nearly three times as many as the incidence of car accidents in county B.
Another question is : Can we replace "incidence" with "rate or percentage or frequencey"?
Thanks |

All are correct except for the third one. They are just different ways to say the same thing.

"Much" doesn't work here because "incidents" are countable. The correct version is the next sentence which uses "many."

Definitely "rate" and "frequency" work well. I don't think "percentage" does because it leaves the question, "Percentage of what?"
Nice job, Tala! |
