"Dreamworks is worried that Chris Rock may criticize Bush and the movie will get Dixie-Chicked."

Before (and in the early days of) the U.S.-Iraq war, a country music group called the Dixie Chicks was very vocal against the war and the current American government. Since many country music fans are republicans who back the president, there was a huge drop-off in CD sales and concert attendance. In fact, many concert sponsors cancelled their concert dates. They were also ostracized in much of the media. They suffered a lot.
Apparently someone has turned the phenomenon into a verb. To be Dixie-Chicked is to be ostracized for speaking your mind about political issues - epecially for celebrities. |
