I would like to spend a month in Europe next year, but I need some advice. Would you share your travel experience with me? And give me some suggestions on the routes and cities that I shouldn't miss in Europe. |

Where would you like to go? Eastern or Western Europe?
In my opinion, Eastern Europe would be the better choice.
Search through the net to get a rough a idea.
I'll get back to you later |

Maybe you should look into getting a Euro-rail pass. I would check out some websites to find student hostils before you go as well.
Godd luck,

There are too many places that I wish to visit, such as Rome, Athen, Vienna, Warsaw, Berlin, Paris and some cities in England. It's quite impossible to visit all of them in a single trip. But visiting England is a must for me. Besides England, which cities do you like the best? I also heard of people saying that eastern Europe is more worth visiting. But if I'm going to England, it seems that eastern Europe is too far away... But anyway, I still have much time to plan this trip and make any changes.
And getting a Europe railway pass is also a good idea.

London is a must-see, but don't give it more than 1 day, you'll be disappointed.
Edinburgh is a beautiful city, but don't count on being able to understand a word the people say! I'm English and I find it difficult to understand the Scottish accent sometimes!
Oxford and Cambridge are nice too.
If you wanted to go off the typical tourist trail, it's worth getting out into the countryside. Places like Dartmoor, the Lake District or the New Forest (where I am from!) are all beautiful.
By the way, everything you've heard about the British train system is true! It's terrible!
Further afield, I can recommend Paris and Rome, but avoid Naples!
If you can arrange your visit so that it is not in the middle of summer, you'll avoid the worst of the tourist crush.
Have a good time!

I visited almost all from your list (except UK). In my opinion Euro Rail is the best kind of transport for one month trip. It takes only one day to go from London to Poland (23 hours by bus to Gdansk), so it's not impossible.
You completly forgot about our nature places like Alps. Think about Chamonix (www.chamonix.net). Beatifull place beside Mont Blanc. You can take cabin car to Augli du Midi -3873- and admire Mont Blanc. What about Switzerland: Zermatt (www.zermatt.ch) - the most lovely spa I ever been to - and the Matterhorn viev (the most difficult to climb mountain in Europe); Jungfrau with the highest railway in Europe, Davos, St. Moritz, Salzburg, Italian Dolomits, ... I know you cannot visit all of them, but you cannot visit none of them.
I saw preople wrote: Hamburg is a lovely place, Milan is a lovely place, ... You needs some prioritets. In Italy Venice, Florence, Pisa, Naples are much more recommended olso beacause it's easier to visit them (Milan is a really big city, worth to see, but not at first after Roma - belive me!!!)
About East Europe:
Warsaw - the most recommended place in Poland is Cracow (I don't live there so it's not local chauvinism).
You must visit Prague and Budapest.
Abaut the places like Kiev, Minsk - no chance for Euro Rail - think twice before decide to go there (even in a big group of people). |

I do agree with Charlie. London is a must, but I'd give it more than a day otherwise you won't see everything. But prepare to be ripped off moneywise. Also Edinburgh and I agree with Charlie on this. You won't understand anything they say. They talk so fast.
I live near the Lake District and it is beautiful. Try to go in Spring or Autumn when it's at it's best. Also the Cotswolds with all their little villages. Don't forget my country's capital which is Cardiff and certainly worth a visit. I went to university there. Try and get to Ireland and visit Dublin and Belfast.
I can also recommend Paris and Barcelona is a must for the Gaudi buildings along, along with Rome and Amsterdam. And as Charlie said avoid the summer tourist crush. |
