In the sentence, "I yelled so much I lost my voice." is the phrase, "lost my voice" an idiom? I would think not because both "lost" (albeit temporarily) and "voice" are actual and not figurative nor dependant on colloquiallisms.

Kind of, sort of, whatever!
We also say "to lose one's sight/hearing/balance etc"
I think the meaning is quite simple. That means you stop having a ability or to gradually have less of it. _________________ George Bernard Shaw once wrote: There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your heart's desire, the other is to gain it.
