Do you guys agree smoking in public places banned? Though there are lots of reasons to ban smoking in public places or designate a non-smoking area, it seems a bit unfair or sort of discrimination to the one who smoke. What do you think? Idea

I think it is wrong to ban smoking everywhere.
The right way to deal with it would be to let the owners of places, like restaurants, decide whether they want them to be smoking or non-smoking. Then it's up to the customer to decide whether they want to go there or not. In other places they should set aside a well ventilated area for smokers.
Personally, I think alcohol consumption is a much more serious problem than smoking.

I smoke very much like a chimney.

In our country, it is prohibited to somke in public buildings, such as government building, train stations, airports, banks....etc.
And nowadays more and more buildings is changing into non-smoking buildings.
I was very puzzled when smoking in public places was first banned
in our country.
Though it is of my great inconvenience, I agree to prohibit smoking in public place. because the rightsof non smokers are also important and no one should deprive it from them.
But on the other hand, as you mentioned, we smoker also have the right of pursuit happiness through smoking.
And I suggest non smoking buildings should have some isolated smoking area.
The one can pursue his own happiness as long as it does not hurt others' happiness!!!

I don`t smoke and i do a sport. I can`t stand breathing with a sigarette smoke, i just don`t like the smell of it. People in my country (Russia) are not allowed to smoke everywhere, they smoke in special places for smoking. In my University smokers smoke in toilets. And when you went out form a toilet you smell like a big sigarette becouse toilets are full of sigarette smoke. And you seem to be a smoker after that.
I think if people live in the society they have to think not only about themself but at least don`t forget about people around. If you are dirty and smell like an animall you won`t get into a public transport becouse it makes some troubles for people there. And what`s the difference if somebody sits beside you smoking a sigarette? He makes you not only troubled but makes you unhealthy as well.

If there's a weapon of mass destruction to ban and eliminate that's the cigarette and all the industries around it. You, the smokers, you are only a bunch of slaves. As Ilya said it practice a sport on the seventh day or everyday if you have the chance to do so.

Everyone seems to agree about cigarettes - they are bad for you and unpleasant for those around you.
Nobody seems to be concerned about alcohol, though, except obelix.
Alcohol is a factor in 50% of all fatal traffic accidents.
It is a factor in most incidents of domestic violence.
It is a factor in many murders.
It has ruined many lives.
It has killed more people than smoking.
The United States has already, 70 years ago, tried to ban the consumption of alcohol, recognising, even back then, that it was dangerous, but failed, largely because of the efforts of organised crime, which imported it from Canada or manufactured it in the USA.

I agree with your opinion, though I am non-smoker. Smokers have right of enjoing soking, recognizing bad for health.
The problem is, I think, palce and manner. Everyone knows smoking and smoke of cigaratte are bad for helth. It goes without saying that non-smoker don't want to receive smoke of cigaratte which is displeasure and bad for health.
Smokers should realize about these things, and think about mind of non-smokers. Then, smokers naturally have manners of smoking about place, litterling, etc... It would lead to lessen extreme tendancy of non-smoking.
Wonju, enjoy smoking!(without making anyone displeasure)

Here's the problem with smoking. It doesn't just involve the smoker! If I am sitting next to a smoker, then cigarette smoke goes down my throat and all over my clothes and hair. I very much agree with personal freedom. But, when the freedom of one (such as a smoker) interferes with that of another, then it's wrong. I choose not to smoke. Yet, if I sit next to a smoker, I "smoke" his air.

Imagine if someone took a can of hairspray and just started spraying it everywhere. Most likely, people would become very upset and say, "How dare you contaminate the air like that?" Yet, the effects are very similar to what smokers give.

If they want to smoke, go ahead. But can they please be more considerate? I mean, it is their lives they are destroying, and it seemed unfair for us non-smokers to be passive-smokers. We don't want to throw our lives away so rashly by smoking but we are considerate, we allow smokers to smoke. Just do it somewhere else where other people can't smell you, can you? Evil or Very Mad

I agree with Ilya that smokers will make people around them weak and unhealthy. I don't want to smoke ,because it can make me headache and my family haven't smoker too. I have 3 reasons that why smokers can effect people and surrounding : First, smoke can make atmoshere pores. Then, earth will warmer and hotter than now. Second, if you try it once. You might be can't give up, because sigarettes are drugs. Finally, you will harm people that you love silently.
I thinks , if sigarettes and others are illegal. Environment ought to better than now. Though, smokers are less than most people, but they can make pollution to harm others enough. I want smokers give smoke up for people and themself. I believes your healthy will better than now, and you should work out and eat healthy foods together such as sea fishs, green vegetables, meat and milk etc.
I have some directly experience. For example, my best friend has heart disease, but he always smoke sigarette 1 packed per week. So, one day while he did some activity in his university, he was shocked and unconcious suddenly. After that, he promise me that he wouldn't smoke it again for himself and family.
Drugs has many disadvantage. So ,you should change your own view about sigarette, if you like to smoke it, because you still have people who's love you.
