I have a question.
Can "some of" and "any of" be used with "countable singular nouns"?
For example;
[1] I heard some of his song.
[2] Some of the car is broken.
[3] I don't read any of the book.
Can I say this? |

Yes, you can use some of and any with countable singular nouns. They mean part of or any part of.
Sentence 1 is fine.
Sentence 2 is a little odd. I can't imagine a situation where I would say that. But you could say "some of the car is painted green and some is painted red."
Sentence 3 needs some help with the verb. You can say "I didn't read any of the book" or "I haven't read any of the book." But anyway, the word "any" is fine here. |
