Hi, I read some sentences from the magazine, CNN. But I found some sentences that I didn't have any idea how they came from. So I need your help. Shocked

1.Will the world of fashion turned its back on one of its best-loved faces?"

Question Shouldn't it be "turn", not "turned"?

2.My quest meanders on along the coast of Los Angeles.

Question Is "meander" an intransitive verb or a transitive verb?
Dictionary says both of them are right. Therefore, is it ok to omit "on" here?

3.But it's true. I mean....who would a man rather dance with Clsudia Schiffer or margaret Thatcher?

Question I think there should be a comma between "with" and "Claudia". Am I right or wrong?

4.I've had friends who have nose jobs.

Question Should't it be "I've had friends who had nose jobs." or "I've had friends who had had nose jobs."

Oh....I still have A LOT OF questions, but I will just bring up the 4 first. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Laughing

1, Yes. Because of the use of the word will, it must be, Will the world of fashion turn its back on one of its best-loved faces?"

2. As it stands, My quest meanders on along the coast of Los Angeles, means that my quest is still meandering. It meanders on. So it is not right to omit the on. But My quest meanders along the coast of Los Angeles, means something else. Present tense. My quest is meandering (now).

3. Yes. You are right, (But you need a capital M for Margaret.

4. It should be, I've had friends who had have had nose jobs."

I hope this helps.

Incidentally, you said,"But I found some sentences that I didn't have any idea how they came from. This should be. "I found some sentences but I don't have any idea where they came from."

Good job, Blossom!

On #4 there is a typo, though. Also I'd like to comment on the trickiness of that sentence. "Nose job" can refer to the surgery itself or to the fact that that you've had the surgery (that your nose has been altered). Thus, I could say:

I had a nose job in 1992.

Or I could say:

I have a nose job. (Even though the surgery was in 1992.)

So in the sample sentence, you could say:

I've had friends who had nose jobs. (They had altered noses, or they had the surgery while I knew them.)

or...

I've had friends who had had nose jobs. (They had the surgery prior to our friendship.)

At least, that's my opinion.
