Why does everybody say that he loves the book better than the movie. How can you ever compare a book to a movie anyway?

Unlike the book, the movie changed something to make it suitable for film . Maybe that's why somebody prefer the book.

JRR Tolkien's books are the greatest ever written in our age. The movies were greatly over simplified to cater to the average mind. Tolkien's books are so specific they read like history books and he even wrote papers to answer "historical" questions about his world of Middle Earth. The only real complaint I have about the movies is they removed a few elves and replaced Arwen to do their actions. It was still a great set of movies and I watch them about every month on DVD still.
