Hello.

I have trouble with last names.
How do you pronounce the following last names: Byrne, Aebersold, and Nuttal.

Thanks.

While it's always best to ask people directly how to pronounce their names (there is often a variety of ways), here's how I would pronounce these:

Byrne = burn (I know some people with this last name, and this is their pronunciation of it, which doesn't mean it's the ONLY pronunciation)

Aebersold = A (as in hat) bur (as in burn) sold (like the past tense of sell) I have never seen this name before, so this is just a guess

Nuttal = Nut (as in peanut) -l (The combination of ttal I would pronounce like the ttle in cattle or nettle-- again, just my guess.)

In the version of English I speak, Ae is pronounced as "ee" so the second name would be as Jintii wrote it but with "ee" as the first sound.

The last name I have heard pronouned in English English as Nut (as in the fruit) and -all (as in "all the love in the world").

I suppose these names would be pronounced differently depending on where the people live and the version of English they speak.
