should we remember so many words as a ESL student?

i am a English major student in China and i always feel that reciting those new words is pretty challenging. so need your suggestions.

Since your are majoring in English, it would pay to enrich your word-power. Refer to the post titled "Any efficient way of remembering vocabulary" in this section of the forum. People have given woderful tips there.

One suggestion. IF you like it take it.

Never recite the words just to remember.
My suggestion would be try using those words in your day to day conversation as many times and as frequently as possible. Do this deliberately and consciously. Then these words become part of your vocabulary. You will suddenly notice that the task you were worrying about has become the simplest one.

Great advice!!

Besides, reading or watching plenty of English stuff would work well too.
