My textbook shows that 'for' is correct answer in this following sentence
but I think both are right.
The old lady does not go out in winter, (because / for) she feels the
cold a great deal.
Which one is correct?

Hello.
"For" is the correct answer, but does NOT sound
natural!!
Using "because" in this sentence sounds more natural.
I think in daily usage, this example of "for" is not likely
to be used by most native speakers. its too formal.

| I agree with Hitori. Both words work here (although because does not need a comma before it). But for is old-fashioned as a conjunction. You may read it in some books, but no one really says it nowadays, at least in American English. |
