Dear Teachers,
1. Excuse me, Miss. But are you done yet?
- are you done yet? means are you finished? or have you finished yet?, right?
2. She was telling her friends that she was off men for life.
- She was off men for life means she stayed away from men forever, right?
3. No matter what he does, she just keeps on smiling. Hes really starting to lose it.
- starting to lose it here means starting to get frustrated, right?
Thanks a bunch to Teachers,

1. Yes, that is what the speaker means, although I was taught that you should use finished rather than done.
2. It means that she has decided that she is finished with men; she no longer wants to have anything to do with men for the rest of her life.
3. Starting to lose it usually means starting to lose one's mind / faculties / temper, depending on the context. Here, he's losing his mind because she won't stop smiling. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
