Hi teachers,
This sentence is from an English text.
The factory produced electrical goods such as washing machines and cookers.
Can I replace such as with "for example", "including" or "namely"? If yes, any slight difference in meaning? Or in what circumstances can "for example" be used but not "such as" or "including" or "namely"?
Thank you |

"For example" and "including" are the same, but the clause with "for example" needs different punctuation. It needs to be enclosed in parentheses or be preceded by a semi-colon. You also have to add a comma after "for example."
"Namely" is similar, but it means that only washing machines and cookers are produced. The other three imply that additional products are produced. |
