I know #2 is right. But I saw #1 in a book. I wonder if #1 is used among native speakers now. If it is used, in what situation do native speakers use it instead of #2.

Number 1 is a nonstandard construction that some people use for reported speech / indirect speech, but it doesn't sound right. It is understood, but it sounds "uneducated," or at least sloppy. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
