No war is ever a pretty sight. No war is ever desirable. But lived through it, we all have...and learn through one, we hope we have, for until we do, mankind is destined for doom.

Remembering WW2....


A Day In 1945
Beyond the horizon lies
a deceptive panorama of
serene tranquility;
fragile winds that sigh
their romantic rhapsody
mingling pastel shades of blue
unruffled ocean and the milder sky...

In the interior,
predators- little yellow men with slit eyes
who play God with life,
trigger happy, ever too often displaying
paroxysms of rage...
the familiar rat-a-tat
of heavy machine guns;
a favourite finale

Along this stretch of battlefield
sun-blackened corpses sleep, eyes wide open
in peaceful indifference...
and flanking dusty roadsides
are skewered carcasses
'delicate' dry toys
a reminder of punishment- by proxy
to the potential protagonist

And in the distance....
amidst the tempest of terror, ultimate burner
a soft quiet prayer
reverberates
seeking Death
a merciful gift
in the name of
Compassion
