Q1:Are these two sentences right?

1.What day is it today?

2.When is it today?

Q2: Does sentence 2 have the same meaning with the sentence:
what day is today?

When is it today?

This makes no sense.

If you're not sure if something is going to happen today or not you could ask: When is it, today? Is today the day?
