Hello,

Here are the questions consulted:

1. Are "inspirational" and inspiring" the same in meaning? If not, how should we use these two words in writing?

2. Which of the following sentences are acceptable?

(1) This is the place in which we live.
(2) This is the place which we live in.
(3) It is the day on which we first met.
(4) It is the day which we first met on.
(5) I know the reason which he was late for.
(6) I know the reason for which he was late.

Thanks for your help!!

1...As adjectives, their meanings are the same. I think "inspiring" is used more than "inspirational". He gave a very inspiring talk.

1 and 2 are both acceptable although "which" is not needed in 2. However, native speakers say This is where we live.

3 is acceptable but native speakers say It's the day we first met.

5 and 6 are both not good. 'I know the reason he was late.' is acceptable, but native speakers say I know why he was late.
