The following is an abstract of a reading passage.
Patterson screamed at the officers who were ordering him to tie ground with guns drawn.
1.What does the phrase "tie ground" mean?
2. Can we infer from the sentence that Patterson have guns with him?In other ways, whom do the "guns" belong to ?
Thanks . |

"tie ground" is wrong; it should be 'the ground'.
The officers have the guns. (ordering him to the ground with guns drawn)
Maybe a better way to write the sentence is, 'Patterson screamed at the officers who, with guns drawn, were ordering him to the ground.', although native speakers can understand the original sentence.. |
