The black humor of some slogans in modern China

Today I read a post in a Chinese bbs which really cracked me up, a professor in Beijing University named Qingdong Kong wrote a book called " long life of slogans" which has become very popular book in China now, many youngsters regard this book as black humor in modern China. These slogans usually were written by village, town and county 's government.

Here are some slogans which may crack you up:

One: If you destroy a row of trees you mother will die firstly.

Two: If you dare to challenge the authority of our government you are going to be in big trouble right now.

Three: If there is one woman in your village who give second birth to her children then all men in this village will have Tubal Ligation and all women in this village will have Vasectomy

Four: If you dare not to pay the tax today then you will be put into prisons tomorrow.

Five: If you are brave enough and not afraid of death, come to our town to commit some crimes.

Six: We 'd rather destroying your family than making our country death.

seven: We 'd rather adding ten tombs than adding one person.

Eight: If you drink poison we are not grabbing your poison's bottle, if you want to hang yourself we give you a rope.

Nine: when you lie on the track on railway even though you survive yourself you must be prosecuted for your act.

Ten: If your daughter doesn't go to school to study you 'd better raise a pig instead of raising your daughter; if your son doesn't go to school to study you' d better raise a donkey instead of raising your son.

Eleven: This is illegal that a group of people appeal to the higher authorities for help; this is shame that people appeal to the higher authorities for help.

There are countless black humor of slogans in this book which I can't put all in here. I am wondering whether these black humor of slogans cracks you up~ lol Laughing

Good slogans, bad translation work Laughing

It's your english translation which cracks me up, actually.

take a look at your translation:

Itp-008 wrote:

It should be: if you don't pay your taxes today, then you'll be put into prison tomorrow

Itp-008 wrote:

It should be: we'd rather have ten more graves than one more baby
This one is for the one-child policy.

and what do you mean by We are rather destroying your family than making our country death. ??? Although I don't know what the hell you were talking about, but this sentence should be:we'd rather destroy your family than our country. that'd be grammatically correct.

So many translation discrepancies in your post. I just gave you several examples.

now I gotta go. see ya. have a great translation time Razz

I hope that you should know that individuals organize a country, the country is not your father or mother, without individuals there are not countries, you also should know that if without the rights of individuals the country means nothing except for oppression by a small elites of vested interest.

Dogs as animal they are loyal to their masters in nature, slaves are loyal to their slavesmasters by force, it seems to me that you 'd rather be a dog than be a human being, or you 'd rather be a slave than be a free man.

No one force you to be loyal to China.
if you can't contribute anything for the country, you have not any qualification to appraise it.
you just is a craven at all, because you don't dare to try to change the country, just choice to flee from it. Mad

ltp-008 is a coward, one of the obvious evidences is that she/he never dare tell about her/his nationality, background, even her/his sex. That's her/his weapon protecting himself-herself. that way we can't judge her/him back, nice self-protection anyway. however, that's exactly what a coward dose when she/he feels insecure. Since you feel scared of telling people about your background, who do you think you are to judge people? especially so many partial and extreme comments come from your mouth.

Let's just think ltp-008 is her. if you are a man, then sorry, ltp; and if you are bisexual, then sorry again, ltp.

PS: dear ltp, you have to work hard on your translation, otherwise people really don't know what you are talking about.

I don't think ltp is a bad person, I think she/he is just a funny baby.

Damnit! everytime we have to call ltp she/he, his/her, himself/herself Exclamation that's a waste of time Laughing but since ltp is such a cute baby, it's worth wasting our time Laughing

Firstly I can understand your patriotism, it is good to love your homeland, but ultranationalism does more harm than good, in some extent you should know that criticism sometimes advance the progress of a nation.

Now in China more and more people dare to criticize the Chinese communist dictatorship government, even Chinese premier Wen stated that people in China had the rights to criticize the Chinese communist government, Premier Wen also said in his press conference just three weeks ago that democracy and freedom were the universal values which China should move political democratic reforms forward, a lot of decent people in China want to change the current situations in China, hope you can join in them and do some good things to make China better and better if you are not a craven . lol

lol when people posted some criticisms on Chinese government then you regarded them as bad persons, people will know who is childish and ignorant.

When people are children they often like to hear praises rather than criticisms. Smile

hope you are strong enough to bear the criticisms from other people~

Baby ltp-008, you are not originally from Canada, otherwise your english might not be like that Laughing If you are a native Canadian, you don't have to improve your english by posting some jokes here Laughing . so you are still trying to protect yourself Laughing Nice try!

Beside, if you were a native Canadian, then your motherland Canada should feel really sorry about your english. You see, on this forum there are some native english speakers, and they all speak excellent english, like CP, beancurdturtle, Bob S, Lorikeet...

If you were an original english speaker as you stated, how come you can still read and speak Chinese so well?? you must be a genius!! Laughing as a native english speaker, your Chinese is much better than your english, that'd be an insult for your motherland Canada Laughing . Fortunately, you still do your best to try to improve your english by posting something you think "meaningful" (I don't feel that way though Laughing ), isn't that funny?

Again, Baby, where are you originally from?

PS: Do you really think your posts are "meaningful"??? Laughing Laughing Laughing that's an amazing joke. sometimes you are hilarious. thanks for making us laugh Laughing
