A dialogue between a female Japanese and a female Chinese
In a restaurant a very humble and cowish female Japanese touched a female Chinese who was wearing a coat.
" I am sorry, are you Mrs. Tanaka? " the female Japanese asked.
" No , I am not" the female Chinese answered loudly.
" Eh, " the female Japanese took a breath and said: " If I am not wrong I am Mrs. Tanaka and you are wearing her coat mistakenly. "
The female Chinese angrily shouted out : " really? , does this coat mark your name? "
When the female Chinese found that she indeed mistakenly wore the female Japanese 's coat , she took the coat off and rudely handed it over to the female Japanese.
Then the female Japanese said: " Thank you very much, I give you too much trouble, please excuse me. "
Finally the female Chinese proudly said: " Not at all, you are welcome. " lol |

I am very sorry that I had posted this thread which made you regrading me as a clown, honestly I had a dream in my childhood which I wanted to become a member in a circus, and escpecially I wanted to be a clown who could make people laughing , as you know when a person can make other people to laugh, how great it is~ , pitifully I didn't become a clown in my career instead of becoming an educator, so as an educator I alway hope to get some wise advices from wise people such as you, so if you have spare time and are willing to help other people , please help me and give me some wise advices , I would very appreciate you very much. Thank you very much.
By the way, are you a Chinese pilot who had collided with an American plane and fell into the sea a few years ago? because your name is as same as his, if so you are the hero whom some teenage Chinese admired, if so I have a question to ask , how was you rescued ? the Chinese media had reported that you were death after rescue team looked for you for more than two weeks. I am just curious . |

Wow, how great you are!! You are so kind and well-meaning, the ESLcafe is so wondeful that there are many voluntary ESL teachers who want to help others.
Since you said that you want to help me improve my Englsih, so I am wondering in what way you can help me , so I thought if we could face to face to talk about English, My English would improve very faster , so could you please tell me where you are, how can I contact with you?
Again thank you very much for your kind heart. |

ltp, you don't have to talk to eddfx face to face in order to improve your english. you see, since you are from Canada (you said that, and I doubt that ), then you can easily find a lot of english speakers around you, and you can face to face talk to them, can't you?
Why do you always contradict yourself like that? Miss. Liar, you have to know, Lying is bad. it can just exbarrass yourself |

Meeting me face to face might not be a good idea for you, you see, I really am not that nice of a man and dont tolerate people who are condescending to others very much. I do like to give people English advice and share my experiences of my life with others who seek to do the same because I think learning anything, especially languages should be free.
With that said, here is a small but valuable lesson for you, just for you. This lesson is more about culture then the actual language.
ltp-008 lesson
You seem to have a decent vocabulary, but the way you structure your sentences gives off a rude impression to the reader(s). You should take more time and think about what you want to write instead of using impulse writing. This is just my opinion of course.
Example:
You wrote, Wow, how great you are!! You are so kind and well-meaning, the ESLcafe is so wonderful that there are many voluntary ESL teachers who want to help others.
I know English is your second language, so I am not offended by the above sentence. On the other hand, if it were a native English speaker, I might have taken that sentence to be a little condescending for it holds sarcastic undertones. The, Wow, how great you are!! You are so kind and well-meaning, part of your sentence is what I refer to. Also, looking at your post history, you seem to talk like this regardless of your English ability and it does not matter who you are talking to.
If you just said, The ESLcafe is so wonderful that there are many voluntary ESL teachers who want to help others. That would be a wonderful compliment and it is all I need to stay motivated to help English learners for free and out of my own time.
You suggested, If we could face to face. In American culture (United States of America) this could be seen as a threat. Many Americans see threats as very serious actions. You should be a more aware of the words you use and how you use them if you want any future help.
Gain respect from others and you will learn so much more than English.
Did you learn anything from my first lesson? |

English as second language I have tried my best to explain my views in English in this thread, as an ESL teather as yourself -called I thought that you didn't know much Asian culuture even though you self-claimed that you were in Asia right now, many Asian countries don't regrad " face to face talks " as a threat, so I am still persistting on face to face talk with you if we have a chance , it seems to me that you are afraid of something, now your location tell me that you are in Taiwan, so fortunately I am in Taiwan right now, so I really want to meet you in person since you are voluntarily willing to help me improve my English. So as an ESL teacher how important it would be that you should know the culture differences among various countries around the world.
Anyway, no matter who you are, or what motivations in your mind, I appreciate what you did, the first lesson is good, hope you can continue to teach or to play if you have spare time. If you think that it wastes your time , feel free to stop teaching~
Have a good evening. |

I have been in Taiwan for nearly six years and I understand Taiwans culture very well.
For example, I know exactly what type of person you are. It has nothing to do with Taiwanese culture.
You can insult me and assume what kind of person I am all you want. It still will not help the fact that you are what we call an attention whore. An attention whore is a person who needs attention so badly that they accept negative attention instead of no attention at all. You must get attention that is why you come here. You post negative post that do nothing but upset other readers here.
I have only been a member of these forums for a few days and it is already crystal clear that you are a very negative and ignorant person.
With my wifes opinion and my two friends that we went out to dinner tonight with (all of them Taiwanese like you) and my judgment, you are being rude and when you suggested we meet face to face, they said it was not normal behavior.
I spend a lot of my free time and money helping Taiwanese people learn English. I have a website and just started a podcast that is specifically for English learners. All this for free.
I do not have time to meet you face to face to hear your insults. I have already wasted enough time on you. My time is for people who really want to learn and improve their English.
Until you learn how to respect others here, you will not be helped from me.
Have a nice day. |

eddfx is a wonderful english teacher, unfortunately, he got an awful student ltp-008 who has a hard time to learn good manners and good english from the lesson eddfx offered. I think eddfx is wasting his time to teach such a slow student.
So ltp-008 became a Taiwanese quickly? that makes a little more sense than she/he is a Canadian. and I guess Canada would feel sad for the change of itp-008's nationality. ltp-008's nationality can change by his/her needs. That's so amusing. some people think lying can work on their self-protection, but they always lose. |

If itp is trying to make us laugh what is wrong with that? This world can use some laughter.
Often even professional comedians tell jokes that "bomb". Humour differs for every culture, so what may be hilarious in English could fall flat in Chinese.
I hope itp doesn't get discouraged by the flak and keeps on trying. |

yeah but if the joke is not funny and if it's used to make special groups of people in a society angry then it's not good... This phenomenon lies in every culture... _________________ If I say "I love you" to someone, then I also have to say "I also love everyone else inside you, I love the whole world because of you, I also love myself inside you." -- Erich Fromm, the Art of Love |
