| Mattel says its retro redo is just one of the company's strategies to reconnect the brand. |
According to my English dictionary, 'redo' is only a verb. But in the quote, 'redo' may be used as a noun. Is 'redo' frequently used as a noun among natives even though it is originally a verb?
Please let me know.
Thanks. |

No, it's not commonly said. The writer is using casual language, trying to sound hip or something.
Retro is a prefix meaning back or backward or returning; a redo would be a repetition of something or a makeover or a renovation. So the retro redo means revising something to look like past versions. Since it's Mattel, it must be toys of some sort--maybe GI Joe or Barbie, or the Hula Hoop. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
