hi, there
I'm Japanese student. My name is Yasu. Actually, my first name is "Yasuharu". But it's too long, so everyone calls me "Yasu". I have been in U.S. to study English and culture as an exchange student at high school. I'm still not good at English(especially speaking...) And then when i'm looking for the stuff for english, i found this forum.
I like traveling. And also i'm interested in foreign cultures. So, guys, please tell me about your country.
I'm listening to music when i'm free..
And I belong to swimming club now.
i'm grad to meet you, guys!!

Hi!! I'd like to go to Taiwan someday. My brother have been to there once. He said food was cheap and good.
isn't there a shrine in Taiwan??
Usually, I throw 5 yen into box. But, the amount of money does'n matter.
the reason I throw 5 yen is we call 5 yen " go-en " in Japanese.
"go-en" means "5 yen"
but there is other word in same pronounciation.
that word means "fate, karma, relation"
So, I pray like, "I wish someting good will happen to me"
After that, clap your hands few times.
and then get hands together, and pray.
Does it make sense??
I'm sorry I'm not good enough at english to explain that thing.
I hope it will make sense to you.

thank you for your reply. when i was in "zinzya", i spent 100 yen to get a " o mi ya zi", how to say, a "fate tip"? sth like that. anyway, thougth i cant not totally understand all the japanese on paper, at least i knew i got a good one Very Happy

actually now i still a little want to go back to taiwan. for me, living in yokohama is like living in taiwan ( at least living in city i think the feeling is the same), but i cant get use to japan's a little high price(campare to taiwan). when i got here, i found i looked like a person from a poor country, everytime i buy things, my heart hurts...and i cant happily to choose what i like to buy, most of the time just can choose the cheapest one. i have to learn how to cook, coz it's save money to cook than eating outside. but i think that's a good thing for me, i can improve my cooking skill, ha!

sorry to say so much bad thing to you, just want to find a person to listen my heart voice, i hope you dont mind Very Happy .

hey , taiwan has many night markets, i think it's rare in japan, so when you have time , you must come to taiwan to try our gourmat food in night market!

I think you are talking about " o mi ku ji" , right??
And I think it's not a "fate tip" It's kind of "fate tip" but also it's a kind of "fortunetellimg"
The best one is 大吉. and second is 中吉. and bad one is 凶. It tells our fortune.

I think you are misunderstanding. and homesick.
yokohama is the one of the biggest city of Japan.
So, many people lives in there.
And price will get higher comparing other city.
You know what i'm saying??

"
when i got here, i found i looked like a person from a poor country, everytime i buy things, my heart hurts...and i cant happily to choose what i like to buy, most of the time just can choose the cheapest one.
"
SO??
I think it doesn't relate to Japan. Isn't there any poor people in Taiwan??
Do you want to say "the high price in Japan makes poor people more poor??"
I think thats wrong.
and if your heart hurts when you buy something, why don't you raise money or do something for them??
you just saying like "Japan is bad" in here.
And everyone knows eating outside is not cheap.
I think most of students who lives alone always cook own food.
It's not strange thing.

I think you are just missing home.
If you think the price is high, you can move somewhere in the country side of Japan. I think you can watch Japan in other view.
I hope you will have good staying in here.

ya, you're right, i think i just miss home. I think i was wrong to always compare japan and taiwan, and that will make me unhappy. i have to try to stop to compare, thanks for reminding me Very Happy

today seldomly it snowed in yokohama, and so did the tokyo. i went to Meiji jingu in tokyo to make a wish, coz one friend told me the wish will easily come true if i go there to make a wish. it's my first time to go to tokyo. after that, i walked to shibuya, and went home. but now i found out , it's better to stay home than to go out in snowing day, too cold and wet!! but i have to admit it's very beautiful to walking in meiji jingu in snowing day Very Happy

hey, which city do you live in japan? and now are you a college student?
have you ever been to taiwan?

yeah! You are right. Each country has difference. Sometimes you will find bad difference, but sometime you will find good one.
I think it's better to go out than to stay home. cuz to stay home will meke you more homesick. Go out and make a contact with someone.
I lived in Nara. But I'm in U.S now as an exchange student like you. And I'm a high school student.
I've never been to Taiwan But I want to go someday.
