First of all, happy Thanksgiving! guys! second of all, I got some questions for you guys! here you go!

1. What do you most thank for on the feast?

2. what's the most impressive thanksgiving memory you've got ever?

Dear Red Rose,

Turkey is a game bird, sort of like a large chicken. In the U.S., we stuff it with dressing / stuffing made of bread and herbs, with just about anything else you like -- nuts, sausage, apple, anything -- and roast it and serve it with mashed potatoes and gravy, candied yams, salad, vegetables, and anything else you may want, on Thanksgiving and Christmas. These are the only two real feast days in the U.S., so the poor turkey is not safe in the months of November and December, though he is not in much danger the rest of the year.

A properly prepared turkey is very nice, again, a lot like chicken, but it is easy to end up with a dry bird. When that is the main course, a bad turkey makes for a less-than-perfect Thanksgiving. A smart cook also prepares a ham or roast beef to serve along with the turkey, just in case. And if it is a particularly large gathering, sometimes the cook will prepare two turkeys, or a turkey and a duck.

Usually we have a lot of people over, eat in the afternoon, and socialize and watch American football on TV, then eat again in the evening. Everyone takes home some leftovers. A turkey sandwich the day after Thanksgiving is really the best lunch.

One of my most memorable Thanksgivings was the first one I can recall, when I was 4. It was at my grandmother's, and she cooked everything, including three pies for dessert. Her guests included two or three of her siblings, both her daughters and their families, and her cousin. The old folks, other than Grandma, were mostly strangers to me -- they lived 2,000 miles away -- and I don't think I ever saw them again. They were nice and friendly, and it was eerie to talk to my grandmother's older brother, who was a lot like her but of course very different. He had old-fashioned glasses and false teeth. And Grandma's pumpkin pie with whipped cream was out of this world.

thank you so much CP!!

WOW!! the thanksgiving dinner sounds soooo delicious and sweet that I wish I was one of those American people who was enjoying the dinner! God, I feel very hungry after reading your wonderful post. that thanksgiving turkey keeps staying in my imagination, I have a hard time to get rid of it from my brain!!

I once wached one episode of FRIENDS in which the gang was telling the most memorable thanksgiving they had even had before. Joey said:"on some Christmas day I was at the bus-stop and this lovely fall breeze came in out of nowhere and blew this chick's skirt right up!!which reminds me, I am also thankful for thongs! it's not so much an underpant as it is a feat of engineering. I mean, it's amazing how much they can do with so little material! And the way they play with your mind! Is it there? Is it not there?"

That's really a funny thanksgiving thing!

I like eating turkey. Turkey is a bit like a mix of a big chicken and a big duck.

Family. Then prosperity. Then freedom.

Every thanksgiving, our family would go over to the home of my parents' friends (then they would come to our home for Christmas dinner). Their home had a spectacular view of San Diego's Mission Bay, and the father was an industrial engineer who always had the latest model of home computer. Once, when I was little little, I was running around playing, and fell and cut my head on their elegant glass coffee table. It was very messy because, you know, head wounds bleed a lot. I love turkey. And I don't just eat it at Thanksgiving. I enjoy sliced turkey sandwiches for lunch sometimes. As for the taste: turkey is to chicken what pork is to beef. If you ever travel to Hong Kong again, perhaps you can ask a foreigner who lives there if they know a deli where you can get a turkey sandwich. I mean, it's Hong Kong. They have everything!

Here is an interesting article about the history of Thanksgiving.

More on turkey. According to an article in the Los Angeles Times, citing U.S. government statistics, in this country of 300 million, 250 million turkeys will be produced this year. Some 45 million were eaten this Thanksgiving, and another 22 million will be eaten this Christmas.

Also, every year at Thanksgiving, a nice, big turkey is chosen for the White House, and the president gives it a pardon, allowing it to escape the fate of so many of its kind.

And the turkey is usually very grateful. This is a real photo...

I wonder if Redrose can tell us what's going on here.

Red Rose,

You are the funniest person posting on Dave's, by a long shot. Your daughter must laugh 100 times a day. I never know what to expect when you post something. Just don't quit!

I'll join the chorus of adulation.

Redrose should run for President. Now wouldn't that confuse the turkey?

It seems that erotic topics are always popular among people.

Thanks again, guys.
