A corny joke is one that is too obvious. Or it could be a joke meant for a child. Or an old joke that is so well-known that it is no longer funny. It's a joke that doesn't make you laugh, but the teller thinks it's hilarious.

Teacher: Who knows the definition of "intense?"
Johnny: It's where campers go when it's raining.

thanks dear teacher bud!

I watched an English-teaching TV program in which the host asked:"what dose maize mean?"

and he answered himself:"it means corn!! if you know the answer, then you are amazing! haha! oh, that's a corn joke! isn't it?"

From teacher bud's explanation, the host'a answer made sense then.

Kerstin,

Maize is corn.
If you know that, you are amazing (a maize ing). Terrible pun. Not funny.
Oh, that's a corn(y) joke. Terrible pun. Not funny.

Whether you get the joke or not, you do the same amount of laughing: None.

Red, when talking about jokes, "corny" (with the "y") is what describes the too-obvious joke. If the host of the program said "corn" and not "corny," then he may have just been saying that he made a joke about corn. And he may also have meant it as a pun for "corny." But whatever he intended, it was a corny joke. Laughing

Hey,RedRose,I have a corny joke for you,

Three tomatoes are walking down the street, Papa Tomato, Mama Tomato and Baby Tomato. Baby tomato is walking very slowly and starts lagging behind, then the Papa Tomato goes back and squeezes Baby tomato and says "catch up."
Haha!Very funny,right?

The secretary sat in front of her desk and did her usual jobs.
The managing director came in, just at this moment she farted loudly.
The manager laughed and flattered: "Oh what a beautiful accent! Please can you tell me which area this dialect comes from?"
The secretary was angry, but continued her job and said: "The origin of this accent is not far away from your place of birth."

(a porn joke)

Ad-miral, that was a great joke (and not corny at all)!

Red, ketchup (made from tomatoes) is pronounced just like "catch up" by many people. Some puns are very funny, but that one is a really, really bad pun. Laughing (Thanks for a great example of a corny joke, Veravera!)
