We are here to reproduce our species, just like all the other inhabitants of the earth. No more, no less. |

Here is China, In the traditional Chinese custom, young people should take the responsbility to caring their parent and rearing their children. Maybe you can say it is a very very narmal thing, but that part of life, beside, We can do more things meaningful, right? to make our life more wonderful _________________ Reading make a full man; conference a ready man; and writting a exact man. |

It is a human characteristic to want to know "why?".
Why does the universe exist? Why are we here?
In an attempt to explain it, the concept of God has been invented by humans.
But there is no scientific proof of the existence of any god.
Even if it were to be discovered that a "God"exists, there is no evidence that he/she/it is in the least concerned about humans.
As for making the world a "better"place...Better than what?... Your idea of better is not necessarily Osama bin Laden's, or Joseph Stalin's, or Adolf Hitler's or even Tony Blair's. |

hi to you all
we see that from the prehitorical times Man thought of God existence...and there are alot these days beleive in him...
the philosphers tried to understand or to find a theory to prove that God exists...they said this:
i think we all agree that everthing has a creator or someone who made it...like houses, tables, computers...all these of things and other have someone who made it for certain uses...
and if we applied this to the world we will see that there must be someone who made it for certain use...
and by this theory i want to ask you IS THERE A CREATOR AND IF SO WHY HE CREATED THE WORLD????
for the point of making the world better place i think people like Osama bin Laden and other politicians will destroy the world ... |

Hi!
It seems interesting to me that you always look for a reason. Need there be a reason for something to happen? Isn't this search for reasons what makes us sad and living in sorrow?

Consider this:
The known universe is 14 billion light years across.
One light year is a distance of almost 6 million, million, miles (12 zeros - 6 trillion miles)
In that universe there are millions and millions of planets, stars, and other entities. They are like grains of sand in the Sahara desert.
The Earth is one of those grains of sand.
On that one grain of sand there are six billion sub atomic particles that exist on less than one twentieth of the surface of that grain of sand. Those sub- atomic particles are you and I and everyone else on earth.
We are statistically insignificant.
If there were a creator of such a vast structure as the universe, how likely is it that such an insignificant group of particles has any purpose?
If there were indeed a creator - who created it/him/her?
If you say the creator just IS. Then, by the same token the universe can just BE.
The fact is that we do not know, and it's not important to know.
What is important to know is that we can only travel at around 20,000 kilometers per hour, so we cannot get very far into space before we die. |

Interesting topic...
The existence of God cannot be proved scientifically, but it is equally important to note that neither can science disprove His existence. People either believe He exists, or they do not. Both are kinds of faith-- and matters of opinion.
Consider this:
If I believe in God, and am right that He exists, then I have lost nothing.
If I believe there is no God and am right that He does not exist, I have also lost nothing.
If I believe in God, and He does not exist, I have lost nothing.
HOWEVER, if I do not believe God exists, and He does, I lose everything.
To me, and this is my opinion: It just makes good, logical sense to believe in God. I lead a happy and fufilled life serving Him. I don't wonder why I am on this earth; I know I was created to fufill His purposes for my life. If I am wrong (and I don't believe I am), then I have still lost nothing.
Something to think about.
All the best to you readers out there,
Teacher Dian |

Hi!
And Why is it that you think that you will lose everything? Whether God exists or not is not of our concern at all. It is just all the same. Actually, do you think that even you exist? And if it turns out that you don't, will you lose everything? And what do you mean by everything?
Merry Christmas, by the way!

I agree with Assambar. It is a non-sequitir to say that if I do not believe God exists, and he does, I lose everything.
Why?
I could argue however, that if you believe in God, and he does not exist, then you have lost a lot more than the atheist.
Secondly, if he exists, what kind of daft games is this supposedly all-powerful being playing with you? What's wrong with his standing up and saying, "OK guys it's me, toe the line or I'll sort you out!."
Maybe he could throw a bit of lightning about for effect.
Then there would be no atheists.
On the other hand Satan is alive and well and living in Las Vegas. |

Oh? And just what does that "a lot" consist of? I am joyful, have peace of mind, and am leading a fulfilled life. If it should turn out that God does not exist, what is it that I will have lost?
I don't believe God is playing daft games with us. I think He HAS "stood up" in many ways, and told people He exists and get started "toeing the line". I think He has, some think He hasn't. It's really that simple. It is a matter of faith. I have faith in God, others have faith in what they choose to believe about the existence (or lack thereof) of God. Nevertheless, it remains a fact that science does not and can not prove that God does not exist.
All the best,
