Proud of my country? Eh, you gotta be joking me!
Brazil is an unfair and violent place. It has no culture:this makes this country an identityless one. Many people from all over around the world settled it: the portuguese(the first people who settled Brazil, and whose language became the common and official one), italians, polish, some jewish people, spanish,a little arabian people, french, africans(Brazil was the last country in the world to abolish slavery. This is a great shame and a shadow on its past),etc. All these people kept they culture.Me and my family we are descendants of the german, and my parents and grandparents still speak german, even one hundred and fifty years after our ancestors arrived in Brazil. My parents did not teach me and my brother german, because the people joked their accents many times, specially the portuguese and africans, and they were afraid to teach us.We still celebrate german celebrations, and in the cities of my region, you can hear german music, besides the older people speaking german. The german culture, like the other cultures in Brazil,is vanishing and melding with Brazil's 'common culture': soccer and samba.I hate soccer and I hate samba, and I think it's a shame these annoying things are taken as culture in Brazil. It may sound nonsense, but I consider myself still a german, not a brazilian.

Nationalist indroctionation in the school system is evidently alive and ILL!!

When (if ever?) will you decide to be free from brain washing and not accept to be slaves exploited by your rulers?

Throw off your blinders and dare to live in the world beyond the narrow limits set by those who would exploit/subvert you to further their own ends.

Who benefits from your nationalism?

The sheiks/emires/great leaders/premieres/dictators/premieres/presidents/chiefs/elders/potentates

Who profits from your fear? Dare to march to a different drummer.

Glad to meet you. Smile
I come from Taiwan.
Certainly, I am proud of my country whatever someone always say we aren't a country.
Our science and technology create much economic miracles for Taiwan.
Some famous people was born in Taiwan, for example Yuan-Tseh Lee who earn the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1986, Ang Lee who won the 2006 Best Director Oscar for Brokeback Mountain, and so on.
It may my reflection, but any how I love Taiwan. Cool

When you ask, "Are you proud of your country?" you are really asking "Are you proud of yourself.?"
A country is an artificial entity drawn up by politicians for their own selfish ends, so that they can control the people who live there, and benefit from the wealth that is there.
There is really just the Earth and we are making a filthy mess of it.
Are you proud of yourself?

Hi everyone!

I'm from China. I'm very proud of my country and her culture. As you all know that China is one of the most oldest countries in the world. She has a long history which some other countries donot have. China has her own glories, she "set" her kids all around world. People can get touch with chinese culture easily through making friends with those Chinese people who live abroad.

As the coming of 2008, welcome everyone come to Beijing, to experience chinese culture.

I'm sure that you will be pround of China as I am. Smile

I'm writing with two friends.

We're from Australia and China, but all live in China.

We are all proud of our countries!

This country is progressive. The people are friendly. We have a long history. We live in an especially ancient part of China.

Welcome to China!

hi, guys, nice to meet you all.
im from china. and this is the first time for me to come here.
and i think i like to see you all. Very Happy

firstly, i would like to say that i like my country.the most importat reason is its culture and people.
secondly, i think each country has own beauty and speciality. and if i have a chance one day, i want to visit different countries as many as possible. i love that. anyway, essencially, all people in this world have the same heaet. there are good people and bad people everywhere., not only in some country.
the world is beauty because of its diversity, isnt it?
