Yes, true.
On the other hand, we need a international language.
And I really prefer English than Chinese here.

Oh, I get it.
Well, to be forced to learn a foreign language is a good thing. But to require it to be English is not. I think you should have some choice. Learning any other international language is beneficial in that it opens some more of the world to you.
Many of the better universities in the U.S. also have foreign language as an entrance requirement, so high school students must take some foreign language if they want to enter the university. (I took 2 years of Spanish, though I was a bad student. I can read it a little, sort of, but I cannot speak or understand it.)

Because English is easy!!!!!!!!!
But I think English is not strong enough to be the international communication language. In my opinion,Chinese is the strongest language in the world, then English.
Why don't people choose Chinese as the international communication language, you think?
Because it's hard!!!!!

but there has to be some kind of a world language! would you like it more if it would be french that everyone speaks?! french is much much more difficult to learn than english, no matter if you like languages or not.
i think english is quite okay. it has no too difficult grammar, and you can describe almost everything with some basic vocab.

As Redrose said English is on the way to became an international languages because is the languages of the USA, and economic and political potency, but, Do you know that maybe a century before a man create another language that he pretended becoming in an international language.
That is the ESPERANTO, and include characteristics of almos six language, inlcuding english, spanish, french, german, and anothers.
Search the Internet looking the word ESPERANTO and you will know what I mean.

Not necessarily. The pronunciation may be nearly impossibly hard to master for a student of Chinese language, but grammatically isn't it somewhat similar to English?
The reason people don't use Chinese is because 500 years ago Chinese explorers returned home and the Middle Kingdom became insular. And about the same time, Spanish and Portuguese explorers started spreading their language around the world. Within a couple hundred years, with superior seafaring technology, the British commanded the seas and trade routes. With outposts of the British Empire around the world, English became one of the principle languages of trade (along with French, Dutch, and Portuguese).
The merits of any given language were irrelevant. It was who was willing to build a fleet of trading ships and war ships to protect and enforce those trading routes that would determine what would become an international language.

English has it's ups and downs, just like any other language. I think English's greatest strength is also it's weakness as an international language. English is very versatile. We are consistently making up new words. For example: something tastes like ketchup. You can say it is ketchupy. This isn't a real word (yet) but everyone can understand you. And not just in vocabulary, but grammar and pronunciation. This makes it good for an international language. On the other hand, this also makes it very difficult to learn and stay ahead in. I can speak and write advanced French, Low Intermediate Japanese, High Beginner Chinese and I am now studying Korean so I can compare them somewhat.
I think there are better languages, but to change now would be useless (and costly).
