Let's look at the original definition as prescribed:
Quote:
The definition is as follows:
the umbrella name of movies, photos, music, computer games, information or data on the web, and so on.
The usual content in a camera are photographs. Now, you can take movies with a camera. The contents of my camera are movies and photographs.
In a more broader sense, the definition above lists all different types of media and the content they contain. If I were to summarize the definition as concisely as possible, I would say that it is comprised of and defined as media contents, and are in fact the components of the media contents market. Individually, they are their own kind of content.
The contents of an iPod can be video or music. The iPod certainly plays an important role in the media contents market because it is becoming a popular vehicle for the distribution and viewing of different types of media. The appeal of an iPod is that it can portably play almost any media (medium) and their content. Inside my iPod are a variety of media and their contents. These media contents can be played anytime with a touch of a button.

Hi lotus
Thank you for your kind suggestion. I well understand what you say.
But I think you haven't shown the reason why content is wrong and contents is correct. I read your suggestion many times but the reason isn't clear to me. My English is so poor and that may be the cause I can't understand the reason although you've shown it in your suggestion. If so, I have to apologize.
Would you show the reason by using easy sentences and clearly again?
I'm so sorry to trouble you many times.
Thank you. |

Hi lotus,
"By using easy sentences and clearly" in my last post means "by using such easy setences as 'Contents is correct and content is incorrect because ...,' and so on."
In other words, would you show the part that shows the reason clearly?
Thank you. |

Hi damon
Your reply on Fri Sep 15, 2006 11:40 pm says content in this meaning is uncountable and that's why content is singular, and is persuasive. It was a surprise to me but now I well understand your explanation. I'm saved out by your suggestion.
Thank you. |

Hi redset,
Your reply on Sat Sep 16, 2006 7:34 pm says 'I've never heard anyone take content in this context and pluralise it,' and is persuasive. It was a surprise to me but now I well understand your explanation. I'm saved out by your suggestion.
Thank you. |
