I believe Rio de Janeiro is exactly opposite of Guangzhou.
Hey Clarissa, if you're still around, how's the weather there this time of year?

Investing in stock or funds can be really exciting. when it goes down, you get depressed; when it goes up, you get ecstatic...It can really put you in a complicated mood Laughing

. . .

Today I am in a good mood. because my investment in funds made some money, and the money made in funds from yesterday to today, can afford a trip to Italy Laughing

I'm not sure about this. When you, Red Rose, get depressed, you go shopping. So when the stock market goes down, you lose money, you get depressed, you go shopping, you spend money, and you can't travel. When the market goes back up, you make money, but you have to make more than you lost and more than you spent to start saving for your trip.

Well, I'm sure you'll do fine.

I recommend Paris and Tours in France. Do not miss Paris, especially if you go with your boyfriend. I recommend Berlin, or anywhere in the beautiful, friendly country of Germany. Go to Prague and Buda-Pest. Take pictures, and post them where your eslcafe friends can see them. Lucky!

I hope the stock market goes through the roof so you can be on your way sooner.

The stock market in China is a different animal than the markets in the U.S.

Prices are driven largely by a butt-load of money chasing stocks, an obsessive focus on technicals (like intra-day moving averages), frenetic emotion, and hardly any consciousness of fundamentals.

If one were to participate in the Shenzhen market for example, they should be diversifying exposure as much as possible. That's what funds will do for RedRose. The funds at least have an "investment professional" at the helm with a long term view and knowledge of the value of diversification.

I put "investment professional" in quotes because I was one in a previous career. Laughing

CP is a good traveller, I am sure. CP, you must have earned a lot of money in stocks or funds Very Happy I guess I will go to Paris as you suggested. Paris is many people's dream city. But tomorrow, I am going to XinJiang by a 5-hour plane ride. XinJiang is also a dream place for many people.

And I am trying less shopping. I have lost much money in shopping, it's time to get rid of my shopping addiction, for the purpose of travelling.

Yeah, Chinese stock market is like a crazy animal, nobody can tell how far it will go. Although funds are based on stocks, but since funds spread the risks in different stocks, it's safer.

Today my funds went up again, meantime, my mood goes up as well.

Markets are at an all time high in India, but it's a pity that I'm unable to log on.
It says that until I go to the consultant personally and give them my income tax account number, I will not be allowed to carry out any transactions.

That makes sense. In most countries, investment dividends are taxable income. The broker can get in trouble if they fail to report it to the government and help you avoid paying taxes on your profits.
