Flower, you keep writing about what Islam USED to be. That was a very long time ago when Islam was great. Now what is it? A religion that says it has "no compulsion" and yet stones women to death for extra-marital sex.
It is the 21st century and Islam is still stuck in the 7th century with barbaric punishments such as that.
You are 1400 years behind the times. It is time to modernise, surely?

Merely because you have a bigger typeface than I, does not mean you are right. On the contrary, it shows that, in modern day Islam, you think if you shout louder than everyone else it serves as a valid argument. That too is a barbaric and outdated idea.

Again asterix dont get your information from one source, dont trust every thing you hared from people or medium, think critically about the message you have. Islam is not barbaric or outdated. If you know nothing about Islam please dont make a judgment. Mad

I said that stoning a woman to death is a barbaric punishment.

The fact that you defend it validates my other argument.

On the contrary, the Western media bend over backwards to justify Islamic extremism, as you would know if you had ever read The Guardian.

I'm with asterix on this. What media are you talking about? Do you have links to sample articles?
Everything I read in the mainstream media has been mostly respectful of Islam. You have to really search in alternate publications to find anything critical.

[b]Assalamu Alikom all,

so nice discussion, i am a muslem girl and i am so glad and proud of my Islam who saved me from all the killing disseases in the world as well as thanks for My Islam that he treated men and women as a human not as an animal.

as u notice that cats, dogs and other animals and insects can make sex in streat with any other animal with a marriage because they r animals and have no mind. however human do sex his wife /husband and them make a very beautiful family with no losted children.

Moreover, i would like to say to all that i am a women 25 years old working as men in a company have all the rights to go wher i want as well as i have the right to drive a car.

finally, i am going to marry in this summer and as Islam say that my fiance should give me dowry, he gaved to me 3000 JD and buy to me the ring, as well as he will buy to me gold, and all that to save my rights Very Happy

I don't doubt you are a very nice person and I wish you all the best in your upcoming marriage.
It seems you tacitly agree that stoning a woman to death is a civilized punishment.
I beg to disagree. It is inhumane and barbaric. The animals you kill to eat are not killed in such an inhumane way, are they?

Hellow Astrix,

Listen dear,

Befor Islam come women were as a servant for men and have no rights, they were just use her for se x only as if she has no feelings, no imotions, and before Islam if the woman born a girl, men were bury the baby to not live, however when islam come He prevent this bad habit and order of punish to whom make it.

Then i would like to insure that not only wome stoned to death when making sex out side marriege but also men. Believe me dear, we are so happy with the orders of our Islam since we are sure that our Islam protects us from AIDS & other killing diseases

Our islam is very great and Justic

i hope u understand me Astriex Cool

Leaving aside the fact that death is a ridiculously severe punishment for extra-marital sex, isn't death itself a punishment so severe that it needs no prolongation? After all, you believe that such a "criminal" will go straight to hell. What worse punishment can there be than that?
I agree with you that sexually transmitted diseases are spread by promiscuity, but monogamous people are in no danger.

But I still wish you all the best in your marriage. May your tribe increase.
