The composition of the Earth's atmosphere is at present:-
21% OXYGEN (O2)
78% NITROGEN (N2)
0.04% CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2)
~0.9% ARGON (Ar)

So it's a minute proportion of Carbon Dioxide. Given that the Industrial revolution started around 200 years ago, what is all the fuss about?
Maybe our governments like to keep us worried about something.

I disagree with the above! It is only true for the whole of the atmosphere, when measured dry. The proportions above can vary significantly at very low levels of atmosphere (ie: below 1500 ft) where majority of industrial cities exist. That is if there is a continual emission of green-house gases which currently there is.

The earth is capable of getting rid of the excess CO, CO2 and other gases providing more emissions do not replace them. In the temporary state of having excess gases, the temperatures are getting higher and summers are getting longer.

The increase in temperature causes more sea-water to evaporate and hence increase the proportion of water vapour in the atmosphere. More and more areas are getting flooded and more/stronger tornadoes are appearing all overthe world.

Due to hotter and longer summers more and more huge forest fires are taking place in Europe and all over the world. The destruction of the forests by fire, coupled with the destruction of large areas of Amazon by men, is adding fuel to the problem by producing huge amounts of CO2, as well as further reducing its absorbtion. They do not call the Amazon "lungs of the earth" for nothing!

The receding of the ice glaciers, due to Global Warming, around Polar caps had increased alarmingly in the recent decade. So much so that scientists are now predicting disasterous changes in weather patterns governing the earth - details of which I won't go into now.

There is plenty of scientific evidence to confirm the impending disasters Global Warming can produce. That is why all European governments as well as US are now frantically trying to find a solution without too much damage to their oil/coal guzzling - poisonous gas emitting economies.

Anyone who is still a sceptic, I suggest they try and follow current news in the media, and watch the numerous TV documentaries based on this subject.
Cool

When we are talking about Global Warming we are talking about the whole atmosphere.
How do you measure it "dry"?
You measure it the way it is, and the way it is = .04% CO2 after 200 years worth of polluting the crap out of it.
We are in a natural warming cycle.
The science does not support man's activities as the cause of global warming.

I disagree.
Graphs illustrate that the current warming is on a much larger scale (completely dwarfing) the previous warm-cool cycles the earth had been going through.

It may well be as you say, but we have not been keeping records for very long, and science cannot determine how much of the present warming trend is due to man's activities.
In any case if man is only affecting .04% of the atmosphere, why is it such a big deal?
