We are agreed on the worthiness of Brit politicians then, ieltsinsider, and in general, I find myself agreeing with you on most things. I'm not really up to speed on US foreign policy of the 1920's or 40's, but apparently they were not that interested, or things may have been different.

Some of you are saying that you see America as a violent hostile country. But previous to this war the only other time the United States ever started a war with another country was the American Revolution in 1776. Americans if anything want peace.

And even though the was in the middle east hasn't been handled very well what do you think your government would do if 2,973 of its citizens were killed in a terror attack?

I'm curious. You have such a biased view of the U.S.

In what country were you born?

Where do you live now?

I'm curious. You have such a biased view of the U.S.

In what country were you born?

Where do you live now?

Well. I stated a fact "You have such a biased view of the U.S."

Then I asked two simple questions:
1. In what country were you born?
2. Where do you live now?

In reply I receive:
1. A vague classification without context;
2. one of the questions I asked;
3. a perhaps innocent - but probably sarcastic - question;
4. an answer and a very open ended question;
5. and an invitation to argue, but only if I'm educated.

ltp-008 wrote:

It depends on what class of minority you are talking about; racial, religious, or what have you. I am Hispanic, which makes me a minority in some areas of the U.S. I'm glad you are curious - ask anything you wish. Smile

ltp-008 wrote:

I am born and raised in the U.S.A. I have visited every continent except Africa at least once, many twice or more. And I currently live in Southern California.

ltp-008 wrote:

I've had a great deal of education in addition to University education. But none that applies directly to the subject of the two questions I asked you. I would think this question was innocent enough, unless you didn't later make a statement that seems to insinuate that I may not be educated enough to argue with you . You might have just asked me if I was ignorant instead, either way I would have answered.

ltp-008 wrote:

Thanks for the answer. I was asking a question. Had I wanted to say something, I would have.

Have you ever lived in the U.S. for any significant period of time? I only ask because your view of the U.S. has such a hugely positive bias. The only people I know that have such a skewed view of everything "American" work for Fox News or George Bush. So I was wondering how you gained your point of view.

ltp-008 wrote:

Actually, I didn't want an argument. Had I wanted an argument I would have stated facts, then used the facts to prove a premise.

I know I pass your requirement that I be educated before I can argue with you. But I would add that the person armed with education alone would lose in an argument with someone armed with facts and intelligence.

Is there anything more you are curious about?

Do we have to post a new thread if we wanna join a thread?

And beancurdturtle just asked you a few regular questions, how come he is NOT an educated man? what's your standard? an educated person must buy your viewpoint? what the hell is that?

First:you said that I had such a biased views of the US,but you didn't explain any of them,you didn't quate complete that post of mine ,just quate the end of that post,if you think my that post didn't make sense,you could prove it was wrong or something like that.

Second:I don't think US is paradise,although US has strongest economy in the world,low unemployment rate of 4 percent and strongest arm forces in the world,US has many severe problem such as medicare,social security , criminals and so forth which the people of the states and the government have to face .

Third:here many people have visited many countries,not just you ,I have gone many countries including EU countries ,Asia countries and Australia,visiting many countries doesn't mean that you are superior to others although it does rich individual experience.

Forth:why I asked your education was that you somewhat showed your unpolite character in your other post.

Firth:I don't watch Fox'news,I watch cnn,abc and cbc.I went to the states a lot,I have many friends in the states.Fox is a leftist media,you should like to watch,but not me.I guess that your political views belong to extreme leftists in the State if I am not wrong.

Six:If you don't want arguments ,it 's fine,if you want to discuss some issues,you can use your facts and your intelligence to prove it,that is your rights.

I realise the currently popular politically correct posture is to criticise the USA for everything it tries to do to improve the state of the world, but it is almost the only country that is willing to give it a shot.
Most of the time it is trying to implement some UN resolution that it thinks is important, while everybody else vacillates, and either sends no help, 3 guys and a truck, or roundly denounces the whole thing.
In Lebanon, for example, France, prancing about on the world stage as usual, proposed a resolution at the UN, which, to its surprise, was passed.
How many troops did France send? They sent 200 engineers!
Finally, even Chirac realised he was looking like the hypocrite he is, and sent a further 1000.
The UN is a very expensive, corrupt, waste of time.

I get it now.

It seems to me that the source of all your clumsy and unfocused writing comes from the fact that you never directly address the genesis of your disagreement with me. I could perhaps be wrong, and I could owe you (or someone else)and apology. But you haven't identified my infraction. Why don't we get right to the kernel of your invective?

Please quote my writing of "unpolite character", and tell me what is impolite about it. If I miscommunicated, I will apologize and clarify my opinion. If I was impolite, I will apologize and confess the wrong done.

Regardless, it seems your were offended in some way by something I wrote. As I never intend to offend, I apologise for having done so.

If you think yourself a perfect writer ,you are very ridiculous.

When you do some impolite and offensive things ,you don't realize them,you need get helps from your parents or somebody like that,not from me.

Dear Itp, by reading your posts, I just can't help thinking you are a babyish girl or boy(whatever, I guess you don't wanna tell us about your sex, let me just call you girl,if you disagree, then you are a boy Wink it's just a matter of peanut, no big deal Laughing ), if you have a hard time to play games in an adult world, why not just admit the truth?

I have read all beancurdturtle's posts, I didn't find any of them is offensive and malicious. Instead, I think he's a fair-minded guy who always makes impartial comments. for example, he said that China's leaders don't have experiences to manange a hot economy, and he said China's not the best country because we still need to develop our economy and other issues. those are very impersonal comments about China. how come you call him impolite and offensive or ridiculous? and when he honestly asked you to quote his writing of "unpolite character", you just couldn't, and that's ok, we all know you were just trying to upset him. however, why did you pull his parents out yet? and do you really think your bad manner can make you a polite girl? I don't buy it.

on the thread, beancurdturtle didn't agree about your viewpoints, I guess that's the only reason why you called him impolite or offensive or ridiculous. but please pay attention: beancurdturtle was discussing with you in a neutral way, why did he have to agree with you when he didn't feel the same way as you did?

Sorry, Itp, but that's what I think about. if you wanna be an intelligent poster, you have to be less impersonal and maybe sometimes you just need a little sense of humor. life is long, if you keep being so irritated and fragile, I guess you will have a hard time to compete with people, and further, you can't enjoy yourself that much.

If what I just said seems offensive to you, then please don't take it that way, I didn't mean to hurt you, contrarily, I was trying to be nice to you.

1. I do not think myself a perfect writer, does that mean I am not ridiculous? Very Happy

2. My father is dead, and my mother does not read this forum. So I have to rely on the graciousness of people such as yourself to let me know when I have overstepped the bounds of civility. I beg you, please tell me where I have offended. Embarassed

Energetic Miss 红玫瑰,

Your style of writing is refreshing. I always laugh when I read your writing.

Your style is also direct, which may put some people off. But I'm not easily offended.

Peace,
