Energetic Miss 红玫瑰,

Your style of writing is refreshing. I always laugh when I read your writing.

Your style is also direct, which may put some people off. But I'm not easily offended.

Peace,

可爱的大头先生, sorry, although your head isn't as big as mine, I think.

first of all, thank you for the compliment.

you said that my writingstyle can put some people off...Dose that mean some people can get laid by my writingstyle? or by me? . sorry for my bad english.

Funny, to explain what "put off" means is more difficult that I would assume. Lets try this:
put off
1. To delay; postpone: put off paying the bills. To persuade to delay further action: managed to put off the creditors for another week.

2. To take off; discard: put off a sweater.

3. To repel or repulse, as from bad manners: His indifferent attitude has put us off.

4. To pass (money) or sell (merchandise) fraudulently.

In this case I was using "put off" in the sense of the third definition above. Understand, I personally like your honest speaking - but some people may be too sensitive and feel rejected or offended by it.

Thank you, Mr 可爱大头, now I got it.

Actually, I didn't mean to hurt anyone, I am a nice woman who always tries to help people(that's what my friends said). however, sometimes things go in an opposite direction, I mean, some people feel hurt about my friendly words, in that case, I always feel sorry.

I am glad that you ain't that offended. in this respect, you are strong enough to discuss anything without hurting your health, that is supposed to a postulate for a poster.

If I might be so bold, it may have been your comment:
Quote:
It seems to me that the source of all your clumsy and unfocused writing comes from the fact...

That's insulting, particularly on an ESL board where there are many posters struggling to convey their point as best they can in a language they are not fully fluent in. Need to cut him some slack.

You're not being bold in my opinion. Your observation is fair enough. But my comment regarding "clumsy and unfocused" writing came quite a few posts past ltp-008's initial (what I thought was unprovoked) volley of insults towards me.

I actually didn't mean "clumsy and unfocused" in reference to ltp-008's structure and vocabulary. I've seen ltp-008's other posts, and the writing is pretty darn good considering English is the second language. In addition, the point of ltp-008's posts is usually clear.

When I said "clumsy and unfocused" I meant it in reference to ltp-008's posts directed to me. They lack organization. In direct responses to me, ltp-008 seemed to have been leaping from one incomplete subtly crafted insult to another, without coming to the point. When ltp-008 finally said that they felt I was rude in another post, they revealed what is possibly the source of the motivation for their vaguely disguised insults. As I said, "If I miscommunicated, I will apologize and clarify my opinion. If I was impolite, I will apologize and confess the wrong done."

In this case it seems that calling ltp-008's writing "clumsy and unfocused" is too easily misunderstood. I apologize for any misconception which I created, and any insult I have caused.

Nobody - including myself - should be cut any slack for being insulting. Insults deserve apology whether intentional or unintentional. Don't you think so? Do you think ltp-008 would agree?

You are assuming I am worried about looking like a smart guy.

I'm not.

From Verse 1, but not my favorite translation.

Actually anything written, spoken, conceptualized, argued and etc. is not the true thing. We always abstract things from themselves into symbols to deal with them in our tiny brains - that's the magic of language.

So considering "The Dao that can be written is not the true Dao." - how do we deal with that? Reading Zhuanzi helps. In any case, that phrase is offered to illustrate a larger truth:

First, I didn't do the translation. This is quoted from Peter Merel's interpolation. I've read many different translations - and Peter Merels seems to be very neutral and accessible to Westerners. It's my favorite.

Second, I studied basically fine art and business. Smile

you know so much about Chinese ancient proses, and you seem very interested in Chinese literature. I am confused again.

Even a Chinese such like me, sometime has a hard time to learn Chinese ancient prose, because it's too boring and unfathomable. but as a foreigner, you know it so well. I am confused again.

Now now. No flame fights. If someone offers you an olive branch, don't hit them in the face with it. I wouldn't assume Daniel's diplomatic overtures to be disingenous (unless he were French Twisted Evil ).
