Hi! I m student of university of Macau. Chinese have five thousand of history. So Chinese have a lot of different custom. Some of the ancient customs have different meaning in today. SO some of the behaviors are talked with some people in sometime who have different understand with the custom.
Now I just say my view with some custom of Chinese.
If you take the dinner with your friends in the restaurant, your will be share to pay the bill in the foreign country. But in Chinese they may be fight to pay the bill. Anther people may be dont know this behavior, they think this behavior have problem, even though this is the culture in Chinese.
Some people dont like the foreigner call Chinese man because it will be impolite if the tone or manner of speaking is different. You may call Chinese people, it is polite then Chinese man.
Some of the foreign country touch somebody shoulders is the friendly meaning. But in Chinese this will be make people very unlucky if he take a gamble.

if you are in chinese ,you should know
Do not speak too loudly in the restaurant.
when you are talking to the other, you should keep a distance.
it is a good manner of stopping smoking when people around you do not like, and say "sorry" to him or her.

Hi!I'm a student of Macau University. There are many culture in China. I think we should know this chinese culture. There are a lot of culture about Chinese New Year. For example, we should clean all the things such as the house and the car before Chinese New Year. We should say some lucky words in the new year. We can't sweep with a broom on the first day of Chinese New Year because it is very unlucky.

Very Happy Hi, Im a student from Macao. I want to tell you something about the Chineses culture. When you in a Chineses restaurant, you must learn a little bit Chineses Habit. Chinese people likes quietly eat their foods. Dont like say anything. And they also use chopsticks to eat foods. Dont use hand to eat. You use hand to eat foods means you are poor people.
When you after dinner or lunch, not to beat the bowl and plate.
Thats impolite because it can make some noise influence other people. when I was young I always do this. And my parent always teach me dont do this. I think it is important when you are eating Chineses food in restaurant.

Hi, I am a student in Macau.
There are many Chinese cultures these are interesting.
First, when Chinese go to casino. They dont want other people touching their shoulders. Because Chinese feel that is unlucky. Second, in chinas Lunar year, father and mother give the red packets to their children. The third, Chinese like to fire the firework when there is the Lunar year.

I'm a student of University of Macau.I have heard many customs of China.
For example, A chinese student will take his pen to the temple to pray to God for help while he is going to have a examination.
Second, The man will prepare thirty three grain of glutinous rice and the man's hair, and put them into a red pocket, then bring the red pocket far away form home and put it on the road while he want to drive out misfortune.
Third, the man who want to earn more money form job will put a one hundred dollars paper money under the carpet near the door.

Very Happy Hi! Im a student of Macao University too. I would talk about Chinese cultures of having a meal. When you have a meal with a Chinese who is a fishmen. Dont turn around the fish after you have finished the one side. Why? In their culture, the fish on the meal table which is like their fishing boat. Turning around the fish that seems to turn their boat. Confused They would feel unlucky.
The other one is about the first dinner in a company at 1 st of January. There is a part of meal is chicken. Then, the chicken head would show which one would be fire. And the guy would knew how to do. When there is no chicken head in it. It means no one would be fire.
Cool

Shocked According to Government statistics the existing popluation of Macau is just under 450,000. However Macau comes nowhere close to other cities such as Tokyo, Beijing, Soeul and other SE Asian countries.

Hmmmm, China is a large country, which consists of many places, each place has her own characters. so it is hard to tell which place is the best.

Personally, I like BeiJing, because there are so many famous old buildings and Chinese Cultural heritages in BeiJing, and BeiJing people's Mandarin sounds like romantic music. I often go to BeiJing to attend some conferences, I enjoy listening to BJ people's speaking. even when they are quarrelling, their Mandarin is still artistic and interesting. and they are mostly humorous.

several years ago, I once went to BeiJing for a conference, in order to learn BeiJing more, I hired a bicycle and rode it to stroll around BeiJing City. in a busy street, I carelessly tripped an middle-aged man over, and then I said soooo sorry to him. he said, with a friendly smile, "I guess you are learning to drive, but you just chose the wrong place to practice, what about TianAnMen square? that would be nice." Wink Wink Wink

I liked the information you provided us with about BeiJing. There is nothing better than finding cool and kind people of a place. Can you tell me how many languages/dialects are there in China, please?
