1. Please, can anyone explain this? i think you can say this, but with the comma.
2. Can anyone, please, explain this? this sounds not right to me, with the "please" in the middle.. at least you'd have to set it in commas, i think.
3. Can anyone explain this (to me), please? correct.

hm.. from the sound of it, i'd say you use the third possibility normally, the first one, too, but also when its urgent and the second possibility i wouldn't use at all.

hope i could help you, and it was right Very Happy
greets

I rather say:"would you please explain this?" or "would you do me a favor? please explain this."

Those are good, too, RedRose, but are things to say to one person. The originals would be said to a group of people. You could make them appropriate for a group by substituting someone/anyone for you.

Thank you all for your comments, but I still want to know how I decide which one of my original styles to use.

Are they all equal? Can I use any style I like?

Please help me.

Yes, use any of them. As Stellara indicated, though, 1 and 3 might be preferable over 2.

Many thanks.

But it is a puzzle. I can use all of them, but how do I choose.? I suppose just use any one I feel like? Scary!

Anyway, thanks for the advice.

blossom - the examples are closely related, but let me see if this helps...

please at the beginning - there is a question to follow (the word please) and you need help quickly/desparately. it could also be a command.
Please finish your work! Please help me?!

please in the middle - this is the most common, and in my opinion, the most polite way to ask for something.

please at the end - almost begging for assistance.

does that make a little more sense? iitimone7
