Can anybody explain the difference in meaning of if, only if and even if?
1. I would go to the beach if the weather is good.
2. I would go to the beach only if the weather is good.
3. I would go to the beach even if the weather is good.
Thanks |

1. if...in the event that the weather is good, you will go to the beach.
2.only if...no other time will you go to the beach, except if it is good weather. you will not go if the weather is not favorable.
3. even if...you'll probably go to the beach in any kind of weather. this sentence could be said in a sarcastic way - of course you'd want to go to the beach when the weather is nice, doesn't everyone?
that's all i've got at 11:30pm...iitimone7 |
