to double-cross=betray associate: to betray or cheat somebody who believes that he or she is a partner or associate in the same, often criminal enterprise
"To cheat someone who trusts you?"
Could anyone use it in possible context?
Thanks |

To me, though, "cheated on me" is more appropriate. A double-cross implies a relationship of working together toward some objective.
Tom Jones was the driver of the getaway car in the bank robbery, but he was overmatched by the main gang. When they arrived at the hideaway, they double-crossed him by killing him and dumping his body in the lake. |
