dumbo=an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody's intelligence or common sense ( slang insult )
Does it suggest anything else?

Thanks

your definition pretty much says it all!!

dumbo was also a character in a walt disney cartoon-type film in which the main character (dumbo), an elephant with enormous ears, was in a circus with his mother. dumbo was humiliated and made fun of when he was placed with the clowns and told to fly throughout the circus tent. people all laughed at him and hurt his feelings.

elephants do not have enormous ears and they cannot fly. it's quite posible that the word dumbo came from that characterization of the character in that film.
