A coil is similar to a spiral. I don't know if SpongeBob can put himself in that position. For a human being, though, think of their legs bent at the knees and their thighs drawn tightly to the chest. Additionally, their head is bent down as far as possible, so that their form is as much as possible egg-shaped. (Maybe a high-diver is in this postion at times.) When they straighten up, you could say that they are uncoling.
