1. Yes
2. One meaning of "ordain" is to ofically name someone a priest. Another meaning is for someone in authority to make an order. The authority, speaking very oficially, might say, "I do ordain that all parking be free on weekends." The "do" adds emphasis.
3. I use it when I'm overtired, and maybe saying/doing things that don't make sense. I don't have all my faculties.
4. Yes, but the first is more likely.
5. Yes, but it has an archaic feeling to it. "To carry" or "to bring" are more likely. "Many people came bearing gifts to honor the hero." |
