What is the meaning of "stop me cold"?
Could you use it in another sentence? thanks !

I believe this expression originated in the boxing world. He was stopped cold with a right uppercut to the jaw.
i.e. He was knocked unconscious.
Its meaning has been expanded to take in anything that suddenly stops you doing something.
for example: He set off to walk across Europe but was stopped cold when the French deported him.
