Ph.D. means "Doctor of Philosophy"--
it is conferred as the highest degree in a
field--and the term itself tells you nothing
about the field in which it was given.
A sociology Ph.D. and an economics Ph.D.
are both "Doctors of Philosophy"
Professor is a more generic term
applied to anyone who teaches at
an advanced level--or even an undergraduate level.
Professor simply denotes the role of the
teacher--not the degree behind the person. _________________ Mike Avina, JD
