1. A person from China is a Chinese. How do you call a person from Nigaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Argentina, Bolivia, Poland , Venezuela, Cambodia and Laos?
2. I have a cough. I have coughs. Which one is correct?
3. Teachers used to whip on children�s hands.
4. My family eats out often. My family eat out often. Which one is correct?

1. Nigaraguan, Costa Rican, Salvadoran, Argentinian, Bolivian, Pole, Venezuelan, Cambodian and Laotian.
2. Singular is used.
3. Well, it's correct, but usually "on" would not be used. To me, whip on suggests a prolonged whipping.
4. I always use family as a singular unit, so "eats." That might not be true in all dialects of English, though. |
