Hi Wink I want to know todays wedding costume in Korea. Korean student, Please tell me about your countrys trend of bridal. I have to do presentation about wedding clothes, Japan and other cultural comparison on class last project. Please give me information!
Japanese traditionally bridal costume is mainly Shiromuku, Irouchikake and Hikifurisode. Today, Shiromuku is the most famous and popular than others. The costume is all in white. White color has image that pure and innocent, so it has a meaning that it can be steeped any other colors from now. It comes from princess of Buke. Irouchikake is very gorgeous. It is very colorful using flowery and brilliant color like red, gold, silver and so on. Today, brides tend to put on this when brides change their dress. This dress makes brides lovely and sweet. Hikifurisode is black. This dress was passed down from generation to generation. In the early years of Showa, most of brides married wearing this dress. Brides can wear this dress both marriage ceremony and at the wedding reception. This dress has much elegance, because it is used stylish, modern and classical design. These are traditional Japanese bridal costume. Recently, Japanese brides tend to put on Wedding dress and all of Japanese traditional bridal costume in marriage ceremony. It is called Oironaosi(changing costume). This trend is peculiar to Japan.
