Grammar questions

1. If you eat fast food for too long, you will become unhealthy.

2. Smoking makes you have a lung cancer, a high blood pressure, a hard breathing, and many different diseases.

3. Smoking affects people who catches the smoke.

4 Sleeping is needy for your health.

5. Before you go home, make sure the chairs and tables are straight.

6. I sit on the safa. You sit in the chair.

7. Grain is good for the health.

8 Our bodies are estimated to be about 60 to 70% water.

9.The longer you smoke, the worse the damage becomes.

10. He also can play the guitar.

Question

11. Can we start the sentence with "though"?

12. My heart breaks for my son. My heart melted for my son. Do they have the same meaning?

Grammar questions

1. Ok, though it seems a little unnatural.

2. Smoking makes you have a lung cancer, a high blood pressure, a hard breathing, and many different diseases.
2. Smoking causes lung cancer, high blood pressure, heavy breathing, and many other different diseases.

3. Smoking affects people who catches the smoke.
3. Smoking affects people who inhale (???) smoke.

4 Sleeping is needy for your health.
4. Sleeping is good for your health.

5. Before you go home, make sure the chairs and tables are straight.
5. Ok

6. I sit on the safa. You sit in the chair.
6. I'll sit on the sofa. You sit on the chair.
I'll sit on the sofa. You can sit on the chair (is more polite).

7. Grain is good for the health.
7. Grain is good for your health.

But I would say "He can also play the guitar."

Question

11. Can we start the sentence with "though"?
11. I think so, but I am not sure.

I have never heard "My heart melted ..." before. If I heard them I don't think they would have the same meaning. I am a Canadian (native) but wondering if any other native speakers could help out with this one.

If someone breaks your heart, they make you very sad and unhappy, usually because they end a love affair or close relationship with you.
When she left me it broke my heart,

If something breaks your heart, it makes you feel very sad and depressed, especially because people are suffering but you can do nothing to help them.
It really breaks my heart to see the earthquake victims in this way.

If your heart melts you feel sorry for what you are looking at and you change your mind.
I was about to beat him for his bad behaviour but when I saw how small he looked my heart melted and I forgave him.

If you melt someone's heart you make that person kinder and more sympathetic:

He was very angry at first, but she gave him a smile that melted his heart.

instead of though at the beginning of the sentence, you can use although.

Although he took the bus to school today, he prefers to ride with his friend who lives down the street.

although is usually in reference to something that has happened in the past.

Smoking gives you lung cancer, high blood pressure, bronchitis, and many different diseases.
Smoking causes lung cancer...
(Note: cancer and high blood pressure can usually be treated as uncountable nouns.)

No. "Heart breaks" = causes bad feelings.
My heart breaks for my son whenever I see another of his favorite pet goldfish dies.
"Heart melts" = causes good feelings.
My heart melted for my son when I saw him for the first time in the hospital when he was born.
