Dear teacher,
Is "good value" an adjective in the following sentence.
"This tiny town was almost memorable for its unbelievably good value guesthouse VND 20,000."
Thanks. |

In this case, value is a noun, specifically an idea or quality (a noun is a person, place, thing, or idea). Good is an adjective modifying value. |

It probably should be written :
This tiny town was al most memorable for its guesthouse, which, at
20, 000VND, was unbelievably good value.
As it is written I think it is ungrammatical but unbelievably good value is an adjectival phrase that modifies guesthouse.
I think your example qualifies as journalese, which is odd English of the sort often used by sports writers, travel writers, etc.. |
