What does that mean?

It means to make right out of a wrong, to do justice about a wrong.

Mary was charged over $250 on her phone bill a few months ago for several calls to Taiwan that she never made. She complained to the phone company, but they refused to remove the charges. In order to put right her grievance, she filed a complaint with the Consumers Protection Agency.
