I saw a sentence"Bush's address from the Oval Office was direct, if not stirring." I can't understand the part that after comma, please give me some hints or explanations. Thank you so much!!
And also, I want to ask that if there any TV show that you guys recommend most to improve English listening skill. By the way, except "Sex&City" and "Friends." |

the sentence is saying:
the speaker saw "Bush's address from the Oval Office".
the speaker then says that he believed it to be "direct, if not stirring" in their opinion.
this is a way of saying that the speach was stirring in Addition to being direct.
"stirring" would mean that the speach somehow made them think emotionally about the delivered concepts/subject _________________ ab2146 |
