101 course or one-on-one course is basically a direct communication between a teacher and a student. It's person-to-person.

I think English 101 means basic English. English 201 is more advanced...and so on.

I agree. "Something" 101 is the introductory college course for any subject.

Bud is right.

The Random House Infoplease Dictionary defines 101 as comprising the introductory material in or as if in a course of study (used postpositively -- placed after or at the end of another word).

It is used in this way and expained in the Berlitz Business English 2 course

Personally, I have never come across it used to mean one-on-one.
